What is CROS?

CROS Treatment Progress Report (TPR)

The TPR is the primary clinical report of CROS combines the responses from Consumer, Staff and VIP questionnaires into one report, summarized in both written and graph form. To be of maximum clinical utility, the TPR is faxed back to the program within 24 hours of receipt of matching questionnaires in the CROS database. It is recommended that questionnaires be completed the week before a treatment planning session so that the TPR can be discussed by consumer and staff together as they review achievements and set goals for the next treatment period. A description of the sections of the TPR follows.

First Page

The First Page of the TPR is designed to have the most pertinent clinical information readily available for busy staff to review. It includes the following sections:

  • Identifying Information
  • Current Scale Scores

Each respondent’s scale scores are laid out in graphic format so that discrepancies can be discovered at a glance. This display is useful in determining whether consumer, staff and VIP are "on the same page." Discrepancies might indicate hidden strengths, differing expectations, lack of empathic understanding or denial of difficulties.

  • Critical Responses

A Critical Response is one in which the consumer chose the most problematic response to a question. The Critical Response section alerts staff to the questions that should be reviewed immediately.

  • Consumer Scale Score History

The History section shows domain scores’ movement over time. The History will follow a consumer who changes programs if CROS is administered in each setting.

  • Additional Clinical Information

This section reports the answers to questions asked of all respondents about alcohol and street drug use and beliefs about and adherence to psychiatric medication.

Second Page

The Second Page of the TPR contains two sections which are particularly relevant to the treatment planning process.

  • Consumer Report

Clinicians told us they were interested in knowing how consumers responded to particular questions. The Consumer Report section includes all responses organized into categories that are particularly useful in strengths-based treatment planning:

    • Daily Living Situation

    • Housing

    • Social Supports

    • Leisure

    • Hope for Recovery

    • Coping

    • Treatment Satisfaction

  • Items of Disagreement

The Items of Disagreement section identifies discrepancies more specifically by recording responses which differ between respondents by two or more points. The TPR makes no indication or judgment of who is "right" in their perception, rather it offers a flag for further inquiry.
